چکیده

Perinatal exposure to nicotine imbalances the redox status in newborns. This study investigated effect of Anethum graveolens (dill) extract on oxidative stress and tissue injury liver kidney mice newborns exposed perinatally. Pregnant received (0.25 mg/kg) gestational day 12 5 after birth and/or A. 1 15 birth. Newborn showed multiple histopathological alterations liver, including inflammatory cell infiltration degenerative changes. Nicotine increased hepatic renal reactive oxygen species (ROS), lipid peroxidation, tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6) inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) (p < 0.001), decreased antioxidant defenses 0.001). supplementation significantly prevented injury, suppressed ROS generation peroxidation 0.001) response enhanced defenses. In addition, upregulated Nrf2 HO-1 mRNA activity normal nicotine-exposed mice. conclusion, protects against perinatal nicotine-induced stress, inflammation newborn Nrf2/HO-1 signaling

N-acetylcysteineamide (NACA) prevents inflammation and oxidative stress in animals exposed to diesel engine exhaust.

Diesel exhaust particles (DEPs), a by-product of diesel engine exhaust (DEE), are one of the major components of air borne particulate matter (PM) in the urban environment. DEPs are composed of soot, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), redox active semi-quinones, and transition metals, which are known to produce pro-oxidative and pro-inflammatory effects, thereby leading to oxidative stres...

Involvement of Oxidative Stress and Inflammation in Liver Injury Caused by Perfluorooctanoic Acid Exposure in Mice

Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) is widely present in the environment and has been reported to induce hepatic toxicity in animals and humans. In this study, mice were orally administered different concentrations of PFOA (2.5, 5, or 10 mg/kg/day). Histological examination showed that the exposure to PFOA for 14 consecutive days led to serious hepatocellular injury and obvious inflammatory cell infi...

Chinese green tea consumption reduces oxidative stress, inflammation and tissues damage in smoke exposed rats

Objective(s):One cause of cigarette smoking is oxidative stress that may alter the cellular antioxidant defense system, induce apoptosis in lung tissue, inflammation and damage in liver, lung, and kidney. It has been shown that Chinese green tea (CGT) (Lung Chen Tea) has higher antioxidant property than black tea. In this paper, we will explore the preventive effect of CGT on cigarette smoke-in...

Time course changes of oxidative stress and inflammation in hyperoxia-induced acute lung injury in rats

Objective(s):Therapies with high levels of oxygen are commonly used in the management of critical care. However, prolonged exposure to hyperoxia can cause acute lung injury. Although oxidative stress and inflammation are purported to play an important role in the pathogenesis of acute lung injury, the exact mechanisms are still less known in the hyperoxic acute lung injury (HALI).   Materials ...

Liver Oxidative Stress after Renal Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury is Leukocyte Dependent in Inbred Mice

Objective(s) There are some reports in recent years indicating that renal ischemia - reperfusion (IR) induces deleterious changes in remote organs such as liver. The aim of this study was to investigate whether leukocytes have a role on the induction of oxidative stress in liver after renal IR. Materials and Methods Inbred mice in IR donor group were subjected to renal IR injury. In sham don...
